From 1945, Berlin played a central role in the Cold War. In fact, it could be argued that the Cold War began and ended in Berlin. There is no doubt that it had huge significance for the people of Berlin as well. In this section, we are going to examine life in Berlin and elsewhere behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War.
