The Cold War lasted around 50 years and its impact was felt in the furthest reaches of the Earth. It affected people in the remotest areas of Afghanistan, in the jungles of Vietnam, in Central America, in southern Africa, in the Middle East and of course in Europe. We cannot look at every Cold War crisis and confrontation, but we are going consider some of the events which particularly stand out in the history of the Cold War. We are also going to consider how and why these events mattered.
There are three activities, which teachers are encouraged to integrate within their existing schemes of work. If you would like to integrate any resources into your lessons without using the activities suggested here, you can also go straight to the resource bank to search or filter all videos, images, activities and more within the entire LGfL Cold War resource (coldwarresources.lgfl.net).
